If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then i will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 

Now my eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. 

For now have I chosen and sanctified this house , that my name may be there forever: and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

2 Chronicles 7:14-16

Jesus referenced Isaiah 56:7 when saying, "It is written...."My house will be a house of prayer...." That verse speaks of people going to his house with burnt offerings and sacrifices would be accepted and pave the way for them to commune with a holy god. Prayer connected them with God. Prayer ushered them into his presence.
