STAY HERE

Ruth 1

Genesis 27

  1. He stayed where he was.

The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live. 3 Stay in this landfor a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. Vs 2-3

Abraham obeyed me and did everything I required of him, keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions.” Vs 5

So Isaac stayed in Gerar. Vs 6

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Exodus 15:11 Who is like you among the gods, O LORD—glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, performing great wonders?

  1. He endured (or persevered) the famine.

Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there. 20 But the herders of Gerar quarreledwith those of Isaac and said, “The water is ours!” So he named the well Esek, because they disputedwith him. 21 Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah. Vs19-20

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, Hebrews 12:1

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.  James 1:12

  1. He received the promises of God.

“Anyone who harms this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.” 12 Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him. 13 The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy. 14 He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him. Vs 11-14

  • Protection of the King
  • Prosperity/He’s flourishing in the land
  • Peace with his enemies

Day by day the LORDtakes care of the innocent, and they will receive an inheritance that lasts forever. 19They will not be disgraced in hard times; even in famine they will have more than enough. Psalms 37

When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 16:7
