Topic: Fasting

DANIEL FAST

2019

When you giveto someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. Matthew 6

When you pray,do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6

“When you fast,do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face,18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6

“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Matthew 17

17 Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. Matthew 17

When He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” 29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer [e]and fasting.” Mark 9

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. I John 3:8

Now Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. “My father! My father!” he cried. “The chariots and horsemen of Israel!”

15 Elisha said, “Get a bow and some arrows,” and he did so. 16 “Take the bow in your hands,” he said to the king of Israel. When he had taken it, Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.

17 “Open the east window,” he said, and he opened it. “Shoot!” Elisha said, and he shot. “The Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram!” Elisha declared. “You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.”

18 Then he said, “Take the arrows,” and the king took them. Elisha told him, “Strike the ground.” He struck it three times and stopped. 19 The man of God was angry with him and said,

“You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it.But now you will defeat it only three times.” II Kings 13

Jehoash defeated Ben-hadad on three occasions, and he recovered the Israelite towns. II Kings 13

  1. There needs to be spiritual fathers in our lives.

Now Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. “My father! My father!” he cried. “The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” Vs 14

“Take the bow in your hands,” he said to the king of Israel. When he had taken it, Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands. Vs 16

Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.  II Timothy 2

Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you.1 Timothy 4:14

Then after fasting and praying they laid their handson them and sent them off.Acts 13:3

  1. There can be no compromise in our lives.

“You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it.But now you will defeat it only three times.” II Kings 13

Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. 12Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two.

13Elisha then picked up Elijah’s cloak that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan. 14He took the cloak that had fallen from Elijah and struck the water with it. 2nd Kings 2....

The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. Roman 13

Covetousness, Unforgiveness, Lust, Greed, Wrath, Gluttony, Slothfulness, Pride and Envy

III. There will be windows of opportunity.

“Open the east window,” he said, and he opened it. “Shoot!” Elisha said, and he shot. “The Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram!” Vs 17

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.Colossians 4:5

3Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. Philippians 2:2

GOD WANTS YOU TO BE VICTORIOUS IN EVERY AREA OF YOUR LIFE!

  • IN YOUR PRAYER LIFE
  • IN YOUR GIVING
  • IN FASTING

Psalm 20:3 May He remember all your sacrifices
