                                          NO LONGER VICTIMS

RAPE, INCEST AND SEXUAL ABUSE

II Samuel 13

  1. Amon’s ungodly desire.

“Come to bed with me, my sister.” 12 “No, my brother!” she said to him. “Don’t force me! Such a thing should not be done in Israel! Don’t do this wicked thing. Vs 11-12

But he refused to listen to her, and since he was stronger than she, he raped her. Vs 14

“‘Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere. Leviticus 18:9

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. I Corinthians 10:13

  1. Jonadab’s ungodly counsel.

Jonadab was a very crafty man. Vs 3

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” Genesis 3

“Go to bed and pretend to be ill,” Jonadab said. “When your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘I would like my sister Tamar to come and give me something to eat. Let her prepare the food in my sight so I may watch her and then eat it from her hand.’ Vs 5

God blesses those people who refuse evil advice and won’t follow sinners or join in sneering at God. 2 Instead, the Law of the Lord makes them happy, and they think about it day and night. Psalm 1

III. David’s poor fathering skills.

When King David heard all this, he was furious. Vs 21

“When the Lord punishes you, don’t make light of it, and when he corrects you, don’t be discouraged. 6 The Lord corrects the people he loves and disciplines those he calls his own.” 7 Be patient when you are being corrected! This is how God treats his children. Don’t all parents correct their children? Heb.12:5–10

  1. Tamar’s shattered life.

Be quiet for now, my sister; he is your brother. Don’t take this thing to heart.” And Tamar lived in her brother Absalom’s house, a desolate woman.Vs 20

“Don’t force me! Such a thing should not be done in Israel! Don’t do this wicked thing. 13 What about me? Where could I get rid of my disgrace. Vs 12-13

Tamar’s brother Absalom said to her, “How could Amnon have done such a terrible thing to you! But since he’s your brother, don’t tell anyone what happened. Just try not to think about it.”

Tamar soon moved into Absalom’s house, but she was always sad and lonely. 21 When David heard what had happened to Tamar, he was very angry. But Amnon was his oldest son and also his favorite, and David would not do anything to make Amnon unhappy. Vs 20-21

Speak up for those who cannot speakfor themselves; ensure justice for those being  crushed.Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice. Proverbs 31:8-9

  1. The heart of the Father is healing for all / Both Victims and perpetrators.

When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home. 21 “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. John 11:20

For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.Isaiah 57:15

  1. DISCERN YOUR ENEMY.

We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world. 13 So put on all the armor that God gives. Then when that evil day comes, you will be able to defend yourself. And when the battle is over, you will still be standing firm. Ephesians 6

  1. TRUST THE KING.

Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures says, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD. Romans 12:19

So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good. I Peter 4:19

  1. SERVE THE WOUNDED.

FATHER FORGIVE THEM THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING...

When he was insulted, he did not insult in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten but entrusted himself to the one who judges justly...I Peter 2:23

"He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed." 1st Peter 2:24

Drinking makes you forget your responsibilities… 6 Beer and wine are only for the dying or for those who have lost all hope.7 Let them drink and forget how poor and miserable they feel. Proverbs 31
