The Power of Prayer-Part 1

July 21, 2019 Speaker: Ron Sebesta Series: Sunday Sermons

Topic: Prayer

LORD TEACH US TO PRAY

Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” Luke 11

Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.Psalm 55:22

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6

“Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. 13 But for twenty-one days the spirit prince[c] of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia. 14 Now I am here to explain what will happen to your people in the future, for this vision concerns a time yet to come.” Daniel 10

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we askor imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, Ephesians 3:20

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Isa 5:20

Who rises up for me against the wicked?  Who stands up for me against evildoers?Psalm 94:16

55 But if you do not drive outthe inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live.56 And then I will do to you what I plan to do to them.” Numbers 33
