THE WRITING ON THE WALL

DANIEL 5

Daniel says that in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. Daniel 9

1. PROPHECY

Remember the statue of gold, silver, bronze and iron and clay.

30That very night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was killed. 31^j And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.

So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus ^a the Persian. Daniel 6:28, 10:1

The LORD mentions Cyrus by name 150 years before this even happens. Isaiah 45

This is not the first time this has happened in the Bible

God says that a King by the name of Josiah will be born and rule Israel in righteousness I Kings 13 300 Years later this is fulfilled prophecy about burning the bones of priest on the altar in II Kings 23

The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 750 BC

The Bible predicts the place of His birth in Bethlehem Micha 5:2 750 BC

Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt ^b was 430 years. 41At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, Exodus 12 Genesis 15:13

I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. 10I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. Isa 46:9-10

1. PRIDE

God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father kingship and greatness and glory and majesty. 20But when his heart was lifted up and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was brought down from his kingly throne, and his glory was taken from him.  Vs 19-20

And you knew all this, you have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven.

A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor. Proverbs 29:23

III.WEIGHED AND WANTING

They drank wine and praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone. Vs 4

He had no regard for the sacred vessels of the temple.

MENE, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end; 

TEKEL, You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting; 

Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity. Job 31:6

All a man's ways are pure in his own eyes, but his motives are weighed out by the LORD. Proverbs 16:2

A person may think their own ways are right, but the LORD weighs the heart. Proverbs 21:2
