JESUS IS COMING

“Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Matthew 24:3 NIV

I. Destruction.

2“Do you see all these great buildings?” replied Jesus. “Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” Mark 13:2

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.10While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s

house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11When the Phariseessaw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12Onhearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ a For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”Matthew 9:9-13 NIV

Annas and Caiaphas were the high priests. At this time a message from God came to John son of Zechariah, who was living in the wilderness. Luke 3:2 NLT

Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen Revelation 1:7 ESV

II. Deception.

Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’and will deceive many. Mark 13:5-6

Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world— Revelation 12:7-9 ESV

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. II Thessalonians 2:9-12 NIV

And said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven. Acts 1:11 ESV

III. Disaster

WARS, EARTHQUAKES, FAMINE AND PESTILENCES

When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. Mark 13:7-8 NIV

Then the LORD’s anger will burn against you, and he will shut up the heavens so that it will not rain andthe ground will yield no produce, and you will soon perish from the good land the LORD is giving you. Deuteronomy 11:17 NIV

There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven. Luke 21:11NIV

Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:30 NIV

IV. DISTRESS

“You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them. 10And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. 11Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit. Mark 13:9-11NIV

For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. Matthew 24:21NIV

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Luke 21:26 KJV

Be ready always to give an answer to every man that ask you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: I Peter 3:15 KJV

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. John 14:3 ESV

For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Matthew 24:27 ESV

V. DECLARATION

And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. Mark 13:10 NIV

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for yoursake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. II Peter 3:9-10 NLT
