MARK 1 NOTES
35And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. 36And Simon and those who were with him searched for him, 37and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.” 38And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.” 39And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons. Mark 1:35-39 ESV
21And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and was teaching. 22And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes. 23And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, 24“What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” VS 21-24 ESV
Luke 10:18“I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
Revelation 12:7-97Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
25But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” 26And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him. 27And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.” 28And at once his fame spread everywhere throughout all the surrounding region of Galilee.Vs 25-28 ESV
This is the same day.
29And immediately heg left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30Now Simon’s mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. 31And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.
Still the same day.
32That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. 33And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34And he healed many who were sick with various diseases and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.
1. The first Principal of Prayer is the 3C's. Prayer can be broken down to 3 parts.
· Conversation
· Communication
· Communion
· Luke 11:2, when you pray say when you pray say so some of prayer involves conversation.
· Isaiah 28:23 Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say.
· Psalm 46:10 the Bible says “Be still and know that I am God”
2. Prayer is not the convenient thing, it’s the necessary thing for your mental, spiritual, physical and emotional well-being.
3. Prayer is not something you have to do it's something that you get to do.
4. Prayer is not informing God about anything; it's inviting God into everything. God already knows what you're going through.
5. Prayer is less about moving God's hand and more about moving our heart.
He knows what's good and best and, in the end, though it may not make sense right now.
I. Vs 35 “a long while before daylight.”
David said in Psalm 5:3 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
Psalm 88:13 I cry to you for help, Lord; in the morning my prayer comes before you.
II. Vs 35 “a solitary place or a desolate place”
“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:5-6 5ESV
III. Vs 38 “let us go”
38And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came.
Matthew 26:36 Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray.”
40And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour?41Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.” 43And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words again. 45Then he came to the disciples and said to them, “Sleep and take your rest later on.eSee, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.” Matthew 26:40-46
