Psalm 34 NOTES

 

 

Psalm 34:1 ESV Of David. When he pretended to be insane before Abimelek, who drove him away, and he left.

 

I. Call on the name of the Lord

 

Vs 4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.

 

Vs 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.

 

Vs 10 those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

 

Vs 17 When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.

 

James 4:2 NLT you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.

Psalm  46:1 NLT God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

 

Psalm 50:15 NLT Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.”

 

Daniel 6:10 (ESV)

“When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.”

 

Psalm 55:17 (ESV) “Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice.”

II. Experience God.

 

Vs 8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

III. Fear the Lord

Vs 9  Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!

 

Vs 7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.

 

Vs 9  Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!

Vs 11 Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Proverbs 29:25 25Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

 

II Corinthians 5:9 …we make it our aim to please him

 

Proverbs 16:6 ESV  By steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the LORD one turns away from evil.

 

Psalm 31:19 19Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you

 

Psalm 128:11-2 1Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.

2You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. 

 

Exodus 20;18 NLT  When the people heard the thunder and the loud blast of the ram’s horn, and when they saw the flashes of lightning and the smoke billowing from the mountain, they stood at a distance, trembling with fear.

 

VS 20  “Don’t be afraid,” Moses answered them, “for God has come in this way to test you, and so that your fear of him will keep you from sinning!”

 

Matthew 10:28 NLT 28“Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.j 

 

Proverbs 9:10 10The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,

 

19Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
