Romans 1:1 NIV 1Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God—

18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Verse 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Jeremiah 5:24-25 23But my people have stubborn and rebellious hearts. They have turned away and abandoned me. 24They do not say from the heart, Let us live in awe of the LORD our God, for he gives us rain each spring and fall, assuring us of a harvest when the time is right.’ 25Your wickedness has deprived you of these wonderful blessings. Job 26:7 NLT  7God stretches the northern sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing.

 

Psalm 139:14:“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Jeremiah 32:17 ah Lord God you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and your outstretched arm nothing is too difficult for you.

Because Vs 20 God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Matthew 10:29 & 31 NIV  29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care …31So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

I. Vs 23They exchanged the glory of God for Idols. / for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

Deuteronomy 4:15–19 NIV 15 You saw no form of any kind the day the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully,16 so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman, 17 or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air, 18 or like any creature that moves along the ground 

 

The effect 24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 

 

 

II. Vs 25 They exchanged the truth for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

The effect Vs 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. 

Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Vs 18The wrath of God is being revealed  from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 

The effect -so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Romans 5:8-9 NIV  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 

John 3: 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

John 3: 35The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. 36Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
