THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

“When He ascended on high, He led captives away, and gave gifts to men.” Ephesians 4:8

So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what belongs to you.’ Matthew 25:25

Genesis 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of Godwas hovering over the waters.

14 I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me.15 If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and kill me—if I have found favor in your eyes—and do not let me face my own ruin.” The Lord said to Moses: “Bring me seventy of Israel’s elders who are known to you as leaders and officials among the people. Have them come to the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with you. 17 I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them. They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone. Numbers 11

And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, 33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. Hebrews 11

The LORD keeps close watch over the whole world, to give strengthto those whose hearts are loyal to him. II Chronicles 16:9

Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spiritof wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. Deuteronomy 34:9

Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Gideon, and he blew a trumpet, summoning the Abiezrites to follow him. Judges 6:34

Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Jephthah. He crossed Gilead and Manasseh, passed through Mizpah of Gilead, and from there he advanced against the Ammonites. Judges 11:29

Then the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him.Judges 14:19 Samson

Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. I Samuel 16:13

Strong's Hebrew ruach - breath, wind, spirit / Strong'sGreek pneuma - wind, spirit,

The words I have spoken to you are spirit(wind breath) and they are life. John 6:63

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues a as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2

  1. Wind is invisible.

I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with youforever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.

But you know him, for he lives with youand will be in you. 18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. John 14

But I tell you I am going to do what is best for you. This is why I am going away. The Holy Spirit(Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby, Helper)  cannot come to help you until I leave. But after I am gone, I will send the Spirit to you. John 16:7

Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. 22Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”23Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” Matthew 16

  1. Wind is unpredictable.

Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. 6Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. 7So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ 8The wind (pneuma wind, breath, spirit.)  blows wherever it wants.Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.” John 3

  1. Wind is powerful.

The Power to Witness.

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

The Power to live a Godly life.

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. Galatians 5:16

The Power to Preach.

My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. I Cor 2:4

The Power to Pray.

At the same time the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we don't know how to pray for what we need. But the Spirit intercedes along with our groans that cannot be expressed in words. Romans 8:26

  1. Wind is refreshing.

So repent [change your inner self--your old way of thinking, regret past sins] and return [to God--seek His purpose for your life], so that your sins may be wiped away [blotted out, completely erased], so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord [restoring you like a cool wind on a hot day]; Acts 3:19

The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you. 2 Cor 13:14

I can’t do this by myself, the burden is too heavy for me. Numbers 11:14
